NCIDQ EXAM FORMAT

The NCIDQ Examination consists of three separate exam sections, the Interior Design Fundamentals Exam (IDFX), the Interior Design Professional Exam (IDPX), and the Practicum Exam (PRAC), that measure a candidate’s proficiency in interior design principles and application of knowledge to protect public health, safety and welfare. Two of the exams, IDFX and IDPX are multiple choice exams. The third, The Practicum Exam is delivered in a digitized format. It is administered via a user-friendly testing platform, not a design platform, so no prior design software experience is required to take the exam.

Have both your education AND work experience hours? If you have completed all the requirements, you can apply to take all three sections of the exam – Interior Design Fundamentals Exam (IDFX) , Interior Design Professional Exam (IDPX) and the Practicum Exam (PRAC). In any combination of your choosing.

Don’t have professional experience? If you have completed your education but not your hours towards experience, you are eligible to apply for the Interior Design Fundamentals Exam (IDFX)
