Equity Council // Lunchtime Series – Cultural Humility & Belonging: Part IV

IIDA NY Equity Council Lunchtime Series, in partnership with Racial Equity Partners (REP)

Cultural Humility & Belonging: Part IV

Join us for the concluding session of our Cultural Humility and Belonging lunch series. We will take stock of what we learned, beginning with a brief review of concepts explored (cultural humility; american identity, white privilege & supremacy, active allyship language) that built our understanding of the overarching theme.

We’ll then spend time in discussion, reflecting on what participants choose to bring forward. We encourage you to share your thoughts and questions on how we move the learnings into practice – in our lives, workplaces, and our industry. Where are the gaps and what opportunities do we have to move forward? How can we support each other? What more do you need to positively incorporate cultural humility in our lives and build spaces where everyone feels belonging?

If you didn’t attend the previous sessions, please join us as well. Remember that we’ll do a review and there is always something to learn or share!

As organizations work to advance racial equity and develop inclusive work environments, we know this work is deeply personal.  This series will examine race and culture in America and the different ways people experience bias, preventing us from bringing our full self into most spaces. Share and hear about personal stories and learn about efforts being made to transform traditionally white spaces into culturally competent environments.

These bi-monthly, 90 minute lunchtime sessions will lead with a short presentation, leaving ample time for open conversation, interaction and questions. All sessions are free and open to the public.
