IIDA NY Equity Council Learning Session

Connecting Around “DEI”: A Conversation for Understanding & Managing Resistance

This session is for anyone interested in fostering a more inclusive design industry and learning more (in community) about what it takes to affect positive, meaningful change. Whether you’re already a DEI advocate or still navigating your understanding, this is a space for open dialogue, learning, and connection.

What to expect?

We will reflect on the collective progress that we’ve made on DEI and racial equity efforts – and prepare for what’s ahead. We will look at what it takes to persist in our efforts to keep fostering inclusion and continue to affect meaningful change in our workplaces and communities. We will discuss resistance and explore strategies and language to navigate the challenges ahead.

Learn about Impact: Learn how DEI initiatives support diverse perspectives, more effective teams and more innovative and accessible design.
Manage Resistance: Discuss common challenges in implementing DEI initiatives and strategies for persisting.
Realize Meaningful Change: We’ll share practical insights and practices on how to translate conversations into actions that drive progress so that you may embed DEI values into your everyday work culture.

Join us for an evening to continue shaping a design industry and culture that values every identity, voice and perspective!
