INSTITUTIONAL FORUM: A RE-IMAGINED DAVID GEFFEN HALL AT LINCOLN CENTER

BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN AUDIENCE & PERFORMER

Join the IIDA’s Institutional Forum for an informative discussion and walk-through of the new David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center with Sybil Wa of Diamond Schmitt Architects. Diamond Schmitt Architects are the architect of record & design architects of this new home for the New York Philharmonic. The re-imagined music hall features a grand design including a unique approach to acoustics. Architect Tod Williams Billie Tsien brought the lobbies to life and acoustician Paul Scarbrough of Akustiks led the acoustic design to create a new facility that unifies the relationship between audience and performer. The conversation will include a brief history of Lincoln Center and the master plan of David Geffen Hall’s transformation, the hall itself, and an overview of the new design. The event will be moderated by the Institutional Forum’s Susan Weinberg and Joan Tsen. Speakers include members from various parts of the design team.

Moderators:

  • Susan Weinberg, Account Manager New York City, Shaw Contract
  • Joan Tsen, Sr Interior Designer, Mancini Duffy
