Overview

IIDA membership provides a network of diverse industry professionals and offers opportunities to advance careers with continuing education, inspiration, professional development and industry recognition.

We work for you to advocate for design excellence, legislation, leadership, accreditation, and community outreach to increase the value and understanding of Interior Design as a profession that enhances business value and positively impacts the health and well-being of people’s lives every day.

Membership Levels

Professional Interior Designer

If you are an interior designer who is actively engaged in the profession and have passed the NCIDQ exam, you qualify as an IIDA Professional Member.

OR

If you are actively engaged in the profession and meet the following requirements:

  • Completed two to four years of coursework in an interior design or architecture program
  • 15 years of work experience
  • Can provide three letters of recommendation from IIDA members in good standing that can support the candidate’s career achievements in the Interior Design profession

Professional Architect

If you are an Architect actively engaged in the profession of Interior Design and have passed the ARE exam, you qualify as a Professional Member.

OR

If you are actively engaged in the profession and meet the following requirements:

  • Completed two to four years of coursework in an interior design or architecture program
  • 15 years of work experience
  • Can provide three letters of recommendation from IIDA members in good standing that can support the candidate’s career achievements in the Interior Design profession

Associate Member

If you are an interior designer with a minimum of two years formal interior design education, and are not NCIDQ-certified, you qualify as an IIDA Associate Member.

Educator Member

If you are a full-time instructor, department chair, or adjunct professor in a post-secondary program of interior design at any university or accredited school of interior design, we invite you to join IIDA as a Professional or Associate member at reduced membership rates.

Student Member

IIDA Student Membership provides students enrolled in an interior design program the resources they need for educational and professional development, that are not available on campus. These benefits are exclusive to IIDA Student Members and give aspiring designers unique opportunities to build professional connections that extend well after graduation.

International Member

If you an active Interior Designer located outside of an area covered by an IIDA chapter, you can apply as an International Member. International Members can join at the Professional, Associate, or Affiliate level.

If you are a manufacturer or dealer/distributor of interior design products, IIDA Industry Membership is right for you!

Designed to enhance your networking relationships with IIDA Members and Chapters, IIDA Industry Members have access to increased opportunities for networking with interior designers and students at Association programs and events.

IIDA NY Designer Grant

The IIDA NY Designer Grant supports emerging professionals who are looking to be involved in the IIDA community. Recognizing the mentoring, experience and knowledge our organization provides this Grant was developed to offer financial assistance for membership,provide access to member only events as well as discounted ticketing when possible.

The IIDA NY Designer Grant will award up to 10 memberships to emerging professionals with less than 5 years of experience whom
have completed the application process. Priority will be given to those who are looking to volunteer on an IIDA NY committee.

Applications
September 1 – 30, 2024

Eligibility
Emerging Designers with less than 5 years of experience.
Applicants must not be eligible for reimbursement with their current employer.

Award
Awardees are selected through a lottery system- there are no fees to apply. Notifications will be sent out between October 1- November 30, 2024.

Professional and Associate members in the United States receive complimentary magazines and publications that cover technical and theoretical topics in design, as well as community news and events.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT

NCIDQ Tuition Reimbursement Fund
With an inaugural gift from Mannington Commercial, this Fund offers IIDA Associate Members an opportunity to apply for financial assistance upon passing all three parts of the NCIDQ exam.


IIDA Sustainable Design Education Fund
The establishment of the Sustainable Design Education Fund is an important Foundation initiative. This fund serves as a vehicle to advance the awareness and knowledge on the topic of sustainable design. IIDA Student, Professional, and Associate Members who take and pass the LEED Accreditation Exam may apply for consideration for tuition reimbursement.

For over 20 years IIDA Members have advanced the quality of life for their clients and the public by creating interior spaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional, safe, and building code compliant – from state-of-the-art cancer treatment facilities to sustainable renovations of multi-story condominium complexes.
