Discover the architectural significance of the prominent historic landmark that has blessed Midtown Manhattan since opening in 1911. Experience an hour-long private, guided tour of The New York Public Library’s Schwarzman Building led by docent Joan Marlow Golan through the historic, 115-year-old Beaux-Arts landmark on Fifth Avenue and 42nd Street.

Docent:Joan Marlow Golan discovered the New York Public Library during her undergraduate years at Sarah Lawrence College and treasured it as a resource for research and respite while she pursued her doctorate in English and American literature from Harvard and wrote her book The Great Women. A longtime conservator of the Library, Golan became a docent in 2015 upon her retirement from her position as Executive Editor at Harlequin Books, where she spent sixteen of her thirty-five-year career in book publishing.

Please meet inside the library at the Information Desk in Astor Hall by 5:50pm to allow time for sign in. The tour will start at 6pm sharp!
